Equipping Bible Study // Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus by Lois Tverberg
Leader: Leasa Wagner | Wednesdays, 6:30 PM | Room #2 | Ladies Only
We cultivate a relationship with God by reading Scripture and making every effort to live out its words. We read and understand the passages, verses, and stories, but what if we are barely scraping the surface of what Scripture is teaching us? What if our Western perspective has limited our understanding? Jesus of Nazareth lived, breathed, and taught as a first-century Jewish rabbi in and around Judea. To truly understand His words and the events surrounding Him, we must step back into His world— a complex and vibrant world of deep-rooted Jewish tradition and a political powder keg under the thumb of the Roman Empire. Join us in this unique walk through the New Testament as we pull back the layers of centuries of Western interpretation and dig into the culture, politics, practices, and language of the ancient Middle East and Jesus’ life-changing announcement, where we can “grow as His disciples” by hearing “His words in their Jewish context and learn how to better live them out.”

Equipping Bible Study // The Book of Job
Leader: Stephen Cary & Jeremy Coleman | Wednesdays, 6:30 PM | Room 7 | Men Only
The world teaches us to revolve our actions, thoughts, and beliefs around ourselves. “It’s all about you!” we are encouraged to think. In the world’s philosophy, we become the author and hero of our story. But the Bible teaches a different view, one where another hero - the actual Author of life- takes center stage. In the book of Job, God asserts his preeminence and displays his power.
